Gold’s journalist Ben Harper series returns with Ten Seconds, when a birthday dinner culminates with Ben’s boss, Madeline Wilson, being kidnapped as he watches.

The ensuing ransom demand soon has Ben scrabbling into an old case that launched Madeline’s career, with the help of her father. But that’s not all that’s happening in the town of Haddley, wehre stalkers and break-ins are rising.

There are a lot of subplots that seem unconnected, and plenty of relationships going through tense changes as the tension rises and keeps on rising, with some of these resolutions surprising.
